A skateboarder and a pilot, Nikki and Dave are no strangers to adventure. With hearts set on a mountain backdrop, the Gold Coast couple picked Lamington National Park to say their I do’s amidst a sea of white flowers and a perfectly-timed downpour. Photographer Mallory Sparkles captured all the feels and the post-deluge rainbow that marked the beginning of Nikki and Dave’s new chapter together.

Lamington National Park’s Worendo Cottages hosted both the couple’s ceremony and reception, adorned with all things white. Taking inspiration from Kate Moss’ iconic wedding, Nikki and her bridesmaids created an aisle of white flowers and greenery to match with their DIY bouquets, with flowers sourced from the Brisbane flower markets.

Channeling a little Kate Moss and a little Khaleesi, Nikki’s looked gorgeous in a lace Claire Pettibone wedding dress, with her long blonde locks pulled back into low ponytail. With no time for a hair and makeup trial, Nikki was impressed that Emma Plant nailed it first time, and that her boho bridal look survived the downpour!

From hay bales to wooden seats and a fire pit, the couple describe their reception as a relaxed social scene with no tables. The guests enjoyed toasting marshmallows and a feast by Wild Lime Cooking School, all under an enormous tipi from Gold Coast Tipis. After the couple’s favourite part of the night, the speeches and their stunning cake from Mama Bears Kitchen, the entire party headed off to the Christmas Creek Cafe and Cabins which the couple booked for their guests to spend the night.

Finally, we loved Nikki’s last piece of advice for future brides and grooms. “Practice smiling for a minimum of 8 hours for a few months in advance. I’m a smiler and even my cheeks were sore!”
