Jean & Cam’s Autumnal Alpine Wedding
Cosy camp vibes and the wilderness of Arthur’s Pass, Jean and Cam’s Autumnal wedding has us all excited for the cooler weather! Thomas Stewart Photography was on hand to capture the day in the remote alpine location (seriously, no phone reception!).
Having lived in Canada for three years, Cam and Jean are well established outdoorsy folk. Jean’s grandparents built their bach in Arthur’s Pass many years back, so combining mountains, big open spaces and memories made this the perfect place to tie the knot.
Jean’s mum made plenty of warm blankets, which fit snugly in with the mountainous setting, and the couple enlisted Jess of Cressy Lane Events to help out with the styling. “We wanted a natural, autumn camping look and feel for our wedding, a somewhat unusual brief but Cressy Lane pulled it off perfectly!”
Getting married in the wilds of New Zealand can make finding reception venue options a bit tricky. Enter Barrie to the rescue, the only permanent resident of the tiny bolthole of Cass in Arthur’s Pass. “Barrie has converted a shed in his backyard into a pub (including a fully functioning stage, bar, kitchen, outdoor garden area and million dollar view). He opened his entire venue up to us and was the most genuine, generous and easy-going man and truly is the only reason we were able to create such a magic setup for our wedding.” What a legend.
When your venue is this remote, it helps to have caterers that know what they are doing “Eaton Drink Co. pulled off an absolute miracle at our wedding, they delivered food, cocktails and service that was absolutely outstanding.”
