Lauren & Kate’s Vibrant Waterside Wedding
“A dinner party with friends somewhere quiet by the water.” Lauren and Kate’s simple vision was vibrantly brought to life by the talented team at She Designs, who transformed the hall at Sydney’s Bayview Yacht Racing Association for this fresh summer soiree, captured by Jo Wallace.
“Sheree from She Designs was amazing,” the brides tell us. “She brought in everything for the day and styled it exactly how we had pictured it.” Keen to put their own stamp on the day, Lauren and Kate made personalised wooden wine charms and napkins for guests to take home.
Overlooking the bay, the adjoining deck was the perfect ceremony spot. Hidden behind the boats, Lauren and Kate watched their guests arrive, then the two entered together – Lauren in a lace dress by Lover, perfectly complimenting Kate’s Alannah Hill ensemble.
While Australia continues to drag its feet into the 21st Century, Lauren and Kate (who hails from the UK, where same sex marriage is legal) secretly made things official at Sydney’s British Embassy a month prior to the wedding.
“We decided the legal part at the embassy was something Kate and I wanted to share just the two of us,” says Lauren. “However, we did have the ceremony filmed so that we could surprise our guests and share it with them on the wedding day. We didn’t expect so many tears and our surprise worked wonderfully!”
