Megan & Clint’s Santorini Elopement

February 4, 2015
After becoming a little overwhelmed by their initial wedding preparations, Megan and Clint decided instead to steal away to Santorini. With a tiny entourage of just four guests, plus photographer Katie Harmsworth (of Katie Harmsworth), the pair shared their vows on their hotel rooftop, while the sun settled beyond the caldera.
“We originally started planning a medium sized wedding in the Hunter Valley,” Megan tells me, “but soon realised that we wouldn’t be able to afford a honeymoon if we spent that amount on the wedding. Plus whole thing was becoming very overwhelming! So we decided to go to our honeymoon destination and get married there.”
Santorini wedding stylists Stella & Moscha made the planning process a breeze, organising every aspect of the day. “Stella was a godsend!” says the bride, “We described what we wanted, she gave us the options and we chose from there. It couldn’t have been simpler.”
But the day didn’t quite go without a hitch; an hour before the ceremony Megan discovered a sizable tear in the lace of her Pronovias dress. Fortunately this chilled-out bride merely took it in her stride. “I wasn’t even fazed, I just sat there and sewed it up!” She wore her newly-mended gown with a stunning headpiece and hand adornment from Vintage Raven Bridal.
As the sun went down, the wedding party took in the spectacular view and equally stunning fare from local restaurant, Assyrtico. “Choosing a small destination wedding was absolutely the best thing we could have done,” the pair reminisce. “Just having a few special people there to laugh with made the whole day so relaxing and enjoyable.”
