Katrina and Trent’s Shadowfax Winery Wedding

A shy “Hello” was all Katrina and Trent managed when they first met at a friends party, but luckily said friends saw the spark, set these two up and they’ve been together ever since. With their littlest mascot Maya (Katrina’s daughter) by their side, the two swapped vows at Werribee’s Shadowfax Winery. To the brides’ surprise, Trent even penned some promises to 8-year old Maya, leaving not a dry eye in the house.

Not one for tulle and sparkles, Katrina wanted something that felt like ‘her’, finding it in a lacy and feminine Maggie Sottero gown with a scalloped keyhole back. In a day and age where most brides bypass the veil, Katrina brought back some old school allure with an Agnes Hart number from Etsy. Despite picking up every leaf and twig in sight, the trailing veil had this lass looking lovely. Trent’s trusty RM Williams boots were a given on the day, and paired with a crisp grey Modotti suit, this groom was every bit the gentlemen.

“Great photos are priceless,” says Katrina, “they are the one thing you get to keep, apart from your marriage of course!” Luckily Lilli of I Got You Babe has quite the reputation for spectacular snaps, and Katrina and Trent couldn’t have been happier “I had no idea wedding photos could look like that! Her candid style and moody, beautiful images stood out immediately. We feel so lucky to have found her!”

This perfect pair had their priorities right, making a conscious decision not to sweat the small stuff and focus on what was really important – the fact that they were getting married! That meant leaving the girls from Two of a Kind on styling and setup duty, while keeping decorations to a minimum – after all the rustic natural beauty of Shadowfax Winery spoke for itself. “The venue alone is a great backdrop,” Katrina says, “so apart from an abundance of florals, greenery and candlelight, we limited our decorations.”

Friend and florist, Bernadette of infullbloom brought the goods flower-wise, with rich, earthy bouquets of lush roses, greens and peppercorns, plus plenty of herbs, because according to Trent “the only good plant is an edible one.” The reception saw guests treated to a rustic dinner party style feast, served up by Shadowfax and paired with the winery’s finest drop. In finding a venue Katrina tells us “We wanted somewhere local, reasonably priced and having been there together a number of times we knew the food and wine would be amazing.” All in all, these newlyweds couldn’t have been prouder to show off the best of the West.
