Elly & Navin’s Richly Hued Substation Wedding
With a Nouba fave photographer, top Melbourne venue and stunning charcoal wedding dress, Navin and Elly’s big day had us hooked from first glance. Captured by the masterful lens of Jonathon Ong, this couple’s celebrations began with a vibrant Indian ceremony and continued at the dramatic setting of The Substation.
With hearts set on a blank canvas venue and a soft spot for industrial spaces, Elly and Navin simply googled ‘Melbourne warehouse space’ and quickly fell for The Substation’s exposed brick and sky-high ceilings. The couple were free to bring in their own vendors, including Dann Event Hire for bold statement furniture, and Blakes Feast who served up Melbourne quality nosh, putting a smile on the face of even the fussiest foodie.
Using foliage, smokebush and pink and black roses, flowersmith Tori Allen styled the space to create a modern and art-lead feel that worked perfectly with the gallery. Hanging floral installations made the most of the lofty height and added romance to the warehouse space.
Passing on some words of wisdom, Elly’s advice to fellow brides is tried and tested. “One of my wonderful girlfriends told me, take a couple of moments by yourselves on the day. Everything moves so fast, spend a couple of minutes together to take it in and acknowledge it all. It truly was wonderful advice.”
