You can imagine the look on guests’ faces when they rocked up to Pia and Dave’s place for a housewarming party, only to find the long-time lovebirds were throwing a surprise wedding instead.

The Perth pair transformed their backyard in an ode to Romeo and Juliet, with cacti, candles, neon lights and an abundance of beautiful blooms setting the scene. Lauren Ioppolo of Nectarine Photography captured the romantic nuptials, which saw Pia walk down the aisle in a stunning Grace Loves Lace gown and Soul Provider Food Truck dishing up fresh eats from the driveway.

Considering Dave is a musician and Pia a wedding photographer, this wedding was bound to have artistic flair. The couple rallied their talented friends to help create a bash that was personal and unique, from the bohemian styling by The Dreamer & Collector, to the grazing table and killer cocktails. The ceremony was officiated by a close pal and was filled with meaning, as Pia recalls. “Dave sang the entrance song, we wrote our own vows and our daughters wrote a reading for us on what love is to them,” she says.
