Jimena & Nicholas’ Colourful Sydney Polo Club Wedding
This Sydney Polo Club wedding could give any rainbow a run for its money. Jimena and Nicholas’ celebration was a little bit Spanish, a little bit boho and a whole lot of crazy-colourful countryside fun. And despite being a pair of lookers, would you believe it, these two are camera shy. “Neither of us like photos, but Matt (of The Evoke Company) helped put as at ease,” they tell us, and boy did he capture some vibrant scenes.
“My parents said the wedding reminded them of the Argentinean countryside where they’re from,” says Jimena, who looked positively dreamy in her French lace, off the shoulder Josee dress from Grace Loves Lace. A gorgeous fresh-flower headpiece and knockout pink lippy makes it hard to keep your eyes of this bride, who put her hand to all of their stationary and paper goods.
Inspired by Pinterest, she and her man DIY’d the heck out of their day. Nicholas was running around a flower market on the morning of, while the bride had been busy with her mum and aunty baking take-home desserts. “The whole feel of the wedding was relaxed and fun,” she tells me. “We basically wanted to throw a big party and celebration with lots of food and dancing.”
Not wanting their guests to melt (‘twas a summer affair, after all), they opted for a “short and sweet” ceremony under a beautiful giant oak. “We originally went with a vineyard in Berry, but that didn’t work out,” they say, and fortunately stumbled across the Club in the midst of a panicked flurry to find a new venue. “When we went and saw the grounds and the barn, we were hooked.”
Braided rings from etsy store Metalicious sealed the deal, that had kicked-off with quite the cute proposal story. “Nicholas took me to the beach where we had our first date” – at which he’d “tried” teaching Jimena how to surf. “Then he got down on one knee as the sun set.” Swoon!
