Alex and Kara’s Grounds of Alexandria Wedding

We’ve heard of Eurovision but weren’t aware people threw parties in its honour. Apparently it’s a thing in the UK and according to Kara and Alex, the Eurovison soiree ain’t a bad way to meet a future husband or wife!

After travelling the world together the two settled in Australia but it was on a mountaintop in Cinque Terre that Alex popped the question. They tied the knot back home at the one of our fave venues, The Grounds of Alexandria and Studio Something came along to capture the day.

When it came to the theme, Alex and Kara weren’t fussed – “We just wanted a warm fuzzy feeling of a wedding,” they tell us. With its beautiful atrium and outdoor area, The Grounds always makes for a romantic and rustic setting and the two said their vows under a flower arch crafted by resident florist, Florals by Silva, “It’s such a perfect little spot that hardly requires much decoration. Why fix what’s not broken!”

Resident florist Florals by Silva took care of the blooms, including these gorgeous boutonnieres of ranunculus and wax flower.

Kara looked quite the English rose and couldn’t have been a more apt addition to the rustic garden vibe in a Grecian style Lisa Ho wedding dress.

The Grounds is Alex and Cara’s go-to celebratory spot so there was no hesitation in choosing it for their wedding, “We went there to celebrate my first job, my residency, our birthdays… everything.” No doubt it’ll be the site of may anniversaries to come.

While The Grounds of Alexandria took care of the majority of the catering, Italian providore Salt Meat Cheese is responsible for the decadent cheese-wheel cake. We're suckers for an unconventional cake - especially one made of cheese!
