Jessica and Andrew love breakfast, so opted for a breezy, pre-wedding morning reception on the top floor of the Wyndham Resort Torquay overlooking the beach. Hash browns were the hero of the early hour – the couple and their closest loved ones chilling out with laughs and kind words. Brother and sister photography team Aparat were in amongst it, following the party to an open-air chapel ceremony at Eumeralla Scout Camp in Anglesea.
“We had an open invitation to our wedding ceremony for all our friends and family to join in on our special day,” says the bride, who slipped out of her summery reception number (found at a local Lorne store) and into a french lace Pearls & Roses Bridal creation. She teamed the gorgeous gown with a classic string of pearls – a gift from Andrew that very morning.
Having met at age four in kindergarten, he’d had ample time to learn her tastes, also designing Jess’s engagement ring with a family friend at Geelong jeweller Brett’s Artworks. Much like the site of his Lorne coast proposal, their ceremony took place in front of stunning ocean views.
The groom rocked a terracotta jacket (fantastic with that hair!) and navy daisy-print shirt from Godwin Charli for the occasion, looking positively dapper with his bride as they hung out on the beach in the back of their friend’s vintage green woody Morris Minor wagon.
The pair DIY’d their hearts out, creating their own props, stationary and potted succulent favours. “This is your day,” they say in advice to others. “Be true to yourselves and make something that you will look back on and still love.”
