Josh & Vicki’s Glam Cattle Station Wedding

With grand entrances on helicopters and horses, this glittering wedding was luxe meets country, with some epic blooms for good measure. Vicki and Josh threw away the rule book and crafted a day that captured who they are and what they love most, with SB Creative Co behind the lens and along for the ride!

The whole affair was held on Vicki’s parent’s cattle property at Green Hut Station near Townsville (Josh’s parent’s property was just down the road!) “There is no way we could have gotten married anywhere except home. The Ceremony was out in the paddock, in a spot that Josh and I have always said we would one day like to build a house, where the grass is beautiful, long and golden and there is always a lovely breeze.” In addition to being a helicopter pilot, Josh is a talented carpenter so added his own touches to the day, including the iron ceremony arch and the awesome saloon bar for the reception.

The pair opted to do away with a theme and just go for what represented them best. The result was an eclectic mix of colour and texture, lush florals and bunches of originality. The couple brought elements of their much-loved rural lifestyle to the styling of the day, including legit cowboy/cowgirl vibes! “We also agreed that anything we saw and gave us happiness, we wanted at our wedding. We didn’t need to have a set theme, we just wanted a big celebration of all things that were truly us.”

When your husband-to-be slyly mentions that he thinks it’s pretty cool when brides wear two dresses, we think that’s reason enough to go ahead and double up! Outfit number one was a lace mesh Pronovias gown paired with Matisse gold splattered cowhide mules. And later for dancing, a long sleeved Alex Perry cocktail number with leather studded cowboy boots.

Gayette Burt and her team from Blossom Shoppe worked their floral magic on the day, creating high-impact arrangements in rich reds and muted greens. “We pondered over flower styles for at least 12 months, we knew we wanted insanely big and epic and something that we had never seen before and boy did they deliver!”

We think a groom piloting his own helicopter to his wedding is probably the coolest transport option for a wedding we've ever seen. Four Robinson 22 helicopters brought the boys to the ceremony, one flown by Josh, another by a groomsman and the other two by close friends.

Cowboy boots and hats were the order of the day for the boys. Boulet boots and hats from American Hat Company worn with Connor suits completed their stylish outback look.

Vicki’s bridemaids wore glittering gold dresses in different styles. “It was very important to me that my bridesmaids all felt confident and beautiful on the day. On ASOS I discovered a line of dresses that were all similar fabrics but all totally different styles. They were absolutely perfect!” The girls completed their outfits with burgundy velvet heels from Betts and tassel drop earrings from Barkly Belle.

Vicki is a wedding photographer herself, so finding her own photographer was a big decision. After working with Skye from SB Creative Co for their engagement photos they knew they'd found their dream lens lady! “We clicked with Skye right away, she was so fun and easy going and for the first time, I did not feel anxious or nervous about the photographs. That's how I knew she was the right photographer for us!”
