Aleksandra & Shannon’s Tropical Boathouse Wedding
When one of Sydney’s most creative floral designers ties the knot, you know you’re in for something pretty special. Earlier this year, Aleksandra and Shannon said ‘I do’ in a tropical celebration at The Boathouse Palm Beach. Styled by Oscar & Ruby, their seaside wedding was a feast for the senses with an abundance of colour, sparkle, magnificent food and of course, gorgeous blooms.
Aleksandra made the sensible decision not do her own flowers on the day and instead entrusted the role to Sydney Florist, Mr Cook. “It was really important for me to have a day off and spend time with my family. I have so much trust and respect for Sean (Mr Cook) and I couldn’t wait to get a big surprise – I left to him to be creative and paint the picture with the most glorious of produce.” She was rewarded with a celebration of lotus, tuberose, frangipani, stephanotis, garden roses, banana flowers, bougainvillea petals and orchids.
The Boathouse was a natural choice of venue for Aleksandra and Shannon, having spent many a morning there together for breakfast followed by a relaxed walk up to the lighthouse. Aleksandra tells me “We adore the interior and exterior of the boathouse, the jetty, its amazing food and stylish presentation. The team there are so attentive and such a joy to be around and work with.”
Bespoke Balloonery created a feast for the eyes with big, bright constellations of balloons, honeycombs and colourful tassels and garlands. In keeping with the tropical theme, the ladies at Liana Raine kept guests cool with delicious artisan pops, including a signature Lychee Rose pop, designed by the couple. The decadent dessert table featured His and Hers Cakes by Dolcettini; guests could choose from a white floral and fruity cake or a 1.2 m salted caramel log!
The glitter-dusted bridal party were a pop of sparkle amongst the colour. Aleksandra looked simply stunning in the Maticevski Gold Crepe Gown, while the bridesmaids shimmered in rose gold sequin dresses by Candela.
Tealily Photography was there to capture the colour, sparkle, smiles and celebration of Aleksandra and Shannon’s gorgeous day.
Some words of wisdom from the bride
Don’t DIY on the day. Hire the professionals and let them do what they do best! Don’t put yourself to work; the excitement of the day will make you tired enough. Take the day off with your family and friends and enjoy every moment of it!
And simply and truthfully – don’t sweat the small stuff. Just dance!!
