George & Vanessa’s Mountain Goat Brewery Wedding
This groom was lucky enough to celebrate his nuptials at the source of his favourite ale. “George loves Mountain Goat beer, so the venue was an obvious choice for us,” and with full reign to do what she liked with this Mountain Goat Brewery wedding, it seems the bride didn’t do too badly out of the arrangement either.
“The most important factor for us when planning the wedding was the food,” Vanessa tells me. “I had heard about Cookes Food and after meeting with them, we instantly knew they were the right people for the job.” Once the catering was decided, they needed to find a venue that wouldn’t mind them bringing in their own food. Enter the brewery. “Mountain Goat has a lot of character so we wanted to make the most of what was already there. However, it was important for us to include some details that meant something to us.”
In addition to their tailor-made menu, these personal details came in the form of artwork created from a sample by George’s late mother, stationary by the bride’s friend Lauren and flowers arranged by another talented pal, Alisha. “Neither of us are particularly crafty,” Vanessa admits, “We’re lucky to have some very creative friends!” And vendors at that, with a stunning bouquet by Cecilia Fox and photography by Nouba favourite, Lilli of I Got You Babe.
And that dress? “I chose quite a simple, modern and comfortable dress by Carla Zampatti which suited the style of the occasion,” says Vanessa. “My earrings were made by my good friend Lauren from AL-MA. She did an amazing job and I still wear them all the time, which is always a nice reminder of the day.” And let’s not forget George, who brushed-up very nicely in a suit and shirt by Oscar Hunt.
These two met around twenty years ago, when George already had eyes for Vanessa, but she was “more interested in playing Lego”. Ten years later (with the Lego safely out of sight) they finally got together at friends’ party. And how’s this for another cute personal touch – their wedding day marked their ten-year anniversary.
