A chance meeting to a romantic New York proposal, to a spectacular coastal wedding; the story of Madeleine and Simon feels a little like it’s fallen out of a Hollywood movie. “A photograph was how our love story started” Madeleine tells me how Simon first noticed a modelling picture of her in a hair salon window. Not long after, he happened to recognise her in a bar and asked her out!
Madeleine and Simon shared their vows atop a cliff, overlooking Great Oyster Bay in Tasmania’s East Coast. Their Avalon Coastal Retreat wedding was a day of understated elegance in a magnificent setting. The cocktail-style reception featured a mouth-watering canapé menu and an unusual drinks selection, including elderflower and mint cocktails and Negroni with charred orange.
Faced with a limited choice of bridal boutiques in Tasmania, Madeleine found her dress whilst on her hen’s weekend in Sydney. She instantly fell in love with the Jennifer Regan Greta dress, and with its sheer bateau neckline and stunning low back, it’s not hard to see why. Inspired by Kate Moss (who isn’t?), she decided on a Juliet Cap veil, which she found on Etsy store, Agnes Hart. On a recent trip to Bali, Simon and his groomsmen had 3-piece cashmere suits made, each with a different coloured cotton lining.
Knowing she’d be the perfect fit, the couple opted to fly in Perth photographer, Fiona Vail to capture their day in all its gorgeous detail.
