When Giles proposed with a gorgeous art deco ring, he gave Amy all the inspiration she needed for their opulent botanical wedding. We reckon he picked the right sparkler! Photographer Tess Follet was behind the lens to capture all the classic style and elegance of this country Victoria affair.
The pair tied the knot in St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Echuca, after which guests walked to Radcliffe’s Restaurant where the party began. Both big nature lovers, but wary of the weather on the day, their venue’s living ceiling meant they had the perfect mix of indoors and outdoors. “I just absolutely love flowers and plants, and the venue has a stunning, living roof covered in green vines, so in order to not detract from that we kept all other decoration to a minimum and focused on the flowers.” Vibrant botanicals mixed in colour and opulence, which paired perfectly with the elegant art deco style of the day.
Amy shared a few tips that helped them craft a wedding that included all the important bits, while sticking to a budget. “The thing we learnt is if you don’t really care about something, take the cheapest option, because when it comes to the things you do care about you will find yourself wanting to spend more!” Living in the country town of Echuca, these guys tapped into all the creative vendors that their area had to offer. “Use local, especially if you are getting married in northern Victoria. Amazingly talented and lovely people made our wedding perfect.”
Amy fell hard for the first dress she tried on! Her sister found her long sleeve Mariana Hardwick dress on Instagram, and with those art deco vibes and gorgeous beading she was set. Completing her dazzling look with heels from Bared Footwear and earrings from Blizzards Jewellers in Shepparton.
With blooms being a central styling focus, Lisa from Wallingford Flowers had it covered. “She took our ideas and went to the next level. She’s extremely talented, so passionate and knowledgeable about flowers and my bouquet was an absolute talking point. She also worked really hard to source a range of flowers to ensure we got the style we wanted within budget.”
Amy had her sisters as her bridesmaids, so they all went shopping together to make sure their looks complimented. The girls opted for black cocktail dresses in various styles from ASOS, Portmans and Piink.
Not wanting overly formal or posed snaps of the day, Amy and Giles were delighted with Tess Follet’s organic photography style. “She captured all the emotions of the day perfectly. She is also really fun and sweet, which made the photos a ball!”
“We wanted a trio of cakes and Rach from Paper Cake absolutely killed it – she had so much experience and creativity and they turned out better than we could have imagined!”
