When people talk ‘soul-mates’ some say they feel like they’ve known their significant other for a lifetime. In Britt and John’s case that’s close to the truth – the pair have been pals since childhood. In 2011, Britt was visiting John (the expat) in France and after tripping around the globe together, they returned home with something a million times better than any tacky souvenir. Each other!
Mathew from The Evoke Company was recruited to capture their wedding day and when it came to venue-hunting, these sweethearts settled on the rustic Montrose Berry Farm in the Southern Highlands of NSW. “We visited in winter and it had been raining all week,” Britt tells us, “but we still became infatuated with the charm of the property, the abundance of greenery and the quaint little brick barn that’s used as the reception hall.”
The setting really was something out of a fairytale and according to the bride, their event stylist, Ashleigh of Piccolo & Poppi is to thank! “Ashleigh is like a wedding fairy godmother, not only did she help us bring our vision for the day together in the planning stage, she worked with us to tailor a package so that we could achieve the dream look we were after without blowing our budget.”
Flowers are always a fave of ours but for once we are lost for words. Britt’s bouquet… that PROTEA! Piccolo & Poppi collaborated with Two Hearts Club on this one and we think it’s a match made in botanical heaven.
Britt tells us “we wanted to create a rustic but elegant feel using neutral tones, soft pinks, lots of greenery and hints of metallic that would glow in the candlelight.” We reckon Piccolo & Poppi nailed the brief!
These darlings weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty with some DIY, sourcing the greenery for the reception, the timber for the arbour and the metallic log candle votives from Britt’s grandparent’s farm. “It was a great way for us to help my grandparents feel included in the day and it was a good excuse to spend time out there with the family while we sourced everything.”
Having spotted her dream wedding dress online, Britt booked a solo appointment at Lover on her lunch break, fell in love and that was that! Paired with Samantha Wills accessories and a sweet up-do (courtesy of Willow Hair Spa) this bride looked babin’!
Dusty pink separates from Keepsake were the way to go for Britt’s bridesmaids, while the junior maids kept things cute with Mimco headbands.
“We’re so glad that we got to have Mathew from The Evoke Company with us on the day,” says Britt. “He brings a relaxed and fun vibe with him wherever he goes – which is great for people who don’t usually have their photo taken!”
We're easily seduced by a naked cake and this naughty chocolate and hazelnut number is no exception! “Nicole (of Reay’s Catering) was a pleasure to deal with” says Britt. “The cake was so good that people were scoping out spare pieces left at tables so they could have more than one serving!” Just quietly, we hear the groom had three!
“PB Catering were fantastic, they gave us plenty of guidance and advice! On the night we had lots of guests comment on how much they loved the food, a few saying it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding!”
