Rebekah & Luke’s Chilled Backyard Wedding
Luke and Rebekah’s backyard wedding was a lesson in togetherness. “We did everything together that day really,” says the bride. “We got ready together; drove to our wedding together and just enjoyed the day as a couple.” It’s one way to solve that common complaint couples often share – not spending enough time together on their wedding day! Dave Pascoe’s happy snaps are proof that a little unconventionality never hurt anyone.
Luke and Rebekah developed a mutual crush while living down the road from one another – Bek had ridden past on her bike and stopped for a chat – and according to Luke, he knew they’d ‘be something’ as soon as they met. “My mate Steve had been trying to figure out what type of girl I liked, after we chatted to Bek that day he asked if she was my type of girl. I pretty quickly responded…. ‘no, that is the girl’.”
Before even getting engaged, the pair knew a laid back shindig in the backyard was the way to go, so when a friend offered up their parents’ huge backyard in Hawthorn, Adeliade, Luke and Rebekah knew they had found the perfect spot to host their wedding. After a sweet ceremony presided by Julie Lewington, the newlyweds and their guests lazed about under festoon lights, chowing down on delish pizzas supplied by Adelaide Woodfired Pizza. “We wanted the vibe to be like our guests were coming round for dinner, and there just happened to be a wedding.”
