Polly and Nick’s Koh Samui wedding sure does spark some happy memories of my own tropical do. From the stunning beachside venue to the relaxed, festival vibe, there are many details that bring back those familiar wedding butterflies. We even brought along the same legendary lensman, Eric Ronald.

Having met in Thailand some 10 years prior, Polly and Nick decided to go back to where it all began to tie the knot. “We wanted to have a destination wedding so we could make it a mini festival,” says Polly. “We went over to Koh Samui to find a venue and discovered Samujana Villas. It was exactly want we wanted –palm trees and the ocean were the perfect backdrop for a simple, white theme.”

Their vision was brought together by Samujana’s events manager and the team at Go Samui Weddings, who arranged white tiffany chairs and a soft white canopy for an elegant beach ceremony. Guests were suitably kitted for the tropical heat with personalised sunglasses, sun cream, stubby holders and various treats all packaged in welcome bags given on arrival. Polly’s sister – designer and owner of Viska Print – took care of the order of service, which doubled as handy fans to keep everyone cool.

A short lace number by Monique Lhuillier and a long Le Louvre veil continued the white theme, together with matching bridesmaid’s dresses from Witchery and flower crowns of local blooms. As PR manager at Mecca Cosmetica, Polly got a little inside assistance for her big day look. “Our Head of Artistry did a make-up lesson that my bridesmaids and I were able to replicate on the day,” she says. It just so happens that Nick’s sister is a hairdresser, so that side of things was taken care of too.

A party under the stars was a key reason for choosing a Thailand wedding, and this outdoor setting was nothing short of spectacular; two long banquet tables under a galaxy of cascading lights and dance floor that overlooked the ocean. Traditional Thai sharing plates were dished up for dinner and a pancake cart and coconut ice cream bar kept everyone satisfied well into the night.
