Wild flowers with warm pops of yellow, tousled mermaid hair and a beautiful free-flowing Daughters of Simone dress set the tone for this bohemian, spring-inspired shoot. Photographed outside of St. Paul’s Church in Perth, the shoot paid tribute to tradition while breaking away from its constraints all at the same time. Shot by West Creative, imagery is sure to inspire any couple set to wed in the warmer months.

Brains behind West Creative, Sandie, tells us she actually purchased model Elysha’s dress for the shoot rather than approaching a brand to loan one. “I absolutely feel in love with this boho Daughters of Simone dream of a dress – the pearls on the fabric and the incredible sleeves that gave it a boho, renaissance feel,” explains Sandie. “Also loved the warm ivory colour to get away from tradition just a little bit.”

Elysha’s hair and makeup paired perfectly with Elysha’s dress, collaborating to give the shoot that carefree and effortless bohemian style. “Pearlin felt that the dress had a renaissance look and feel and combined with the boho brief she felt that a modern twist would be mermaid waves with a fishtail plait for texture,” shares Sandie. Complimented with minimal and fresh makeup – glowy skin, warm shimmer and soft coloured lips, this gave Elysha that natural, modern glow we all love.

Jarrahdale Location

St. Paul’s Church in Jarrahdale, a church that is almost 120 years old and part of the Jarrahdale Historic Precinct, was a favourite location spot for this group of vendors. “We have all been wanting to shoot in front of this heritage church in Jarrahdale for quite some time,” says Sandie. “Using the front of the church as an arbour rather than the inside of the church allowed us to keep some tradition but also get away from it at the same time.” Being Spring, the weather was of course a little hit and miss, but this gave Sandie and her team the opportunity to find a few other pretty spots around Jarrahdale’s town.

Knowing the wattle trees in Jarrahdale would be in their full Spring-time bloom, Sandie says this formed the colour inspiration for the shoot. In an ode to mother nature, Florist Bohemian Flower Collective paired flowering wattle with delicate, dancing yellow orchids, locally grown cymbidium orchids and subtle nude roses.
