A simple, intimate city wedding with cocktails, grungy carpark shoots, a sequined mini dress and party food, Claire and Mitch’s big day wasn’t over the top, but it wasn’t boring either. While Mitch didn’t want to miss out on some of the formalities of a traditional wedding, Claire knew she wanted something a little more low-key and under the radar. Meeting in the middle, the Perth couple decided to get married at the Old Tower House in Northbridge, followed by relaxed drinks and snacks at Tiny’s. With a small budget in mind, the couple proved you don’t need grand scenery or a tonne of styling if that’s not your thing. They did, however, ensure room in their budget for a great photographer, who they found in Kitty Loves Love.

The First Look

It was important for Claire and Mitch to have a first look to help settle their nerves before the ceremony. “We were both so nervous, but as soon as we saw each other it all faded away and we just enjoyed that moment,” remembers Claire. “I would highly recommend having a first look moment, it is so special, and gives you that time to really take it all in. I honestly barely remember the ceremony because the nerves and adrenaline are flowing, but I remember the first look moment clear as day.”

The Attire

Highlighting the chill tone of the day, Claire wore a short, sequin party dress by local Perth designer Meraki, paired with a wild Green Bunch bouquet. Claire tells us she particularly loved her wedding day hair by FFF Creative. “Christie was awesome, she was so relaxed about the whole process, which is exactly how I wanted things, no stress, no panic,” says Claire. “Such a chill morning getting ready, and she was heavily pregnant and was still such a trooper.”

The Ceremony at the Old Tower House

Held at the Old Tower House, Claire and Mitch said their I Dos in front of 40 guests, in what they describe as intimate, short and sweet ceremony. The couple were over the moon with their celebrant for the day, who was a complete surprise. “At the Old Tower House, it’s the luck of the draw, you get who you get on the day,” explains Mitch. “Claire couldn’t actually believe that we got the amazing Dru Soltys.”

After initially bonding over a mutual love for Schitt’s Creek, Claire tells us she truly hopes Kitty, photographer of Kitty Loves Love, will be in her life forever. “I can’t put into words how amazing Kitty was,” begins Claire. “We kind of fell into one another by chance, and honestly couldn’t imagine having anyone else with us.” With an authentic and timeless style of photography, the couple are guaranteed to have images they’ll be able to cherish for a lifetime.

The Reception at Tiny’s

With just 50 people at their reception, the couple say Tiny’s was beyond accommodating. “Tiny’s were so amazing, Danielle, their Event Manager, was so helpful and friendly and made the experience so chill,” says Claire. “We had tried a few other venues, but they were all so rigid with their space and expectations and minimum spend, it just didn’t feel right. And then we stumbled across Tiny’s through a friend and it all clicked.” Contributing to the relaxed feel of the reception, the couple made their own playlist on Spotify and chose only a few, minimal styling elements including scattered candles. Accompanied after beautiful cocktail food, Tiny’s served hot chips and sausage rolls to bring the night to a close.
