Meeting at Summerdayze festival back in 2008, it would only be appropriate for Elise and Ryan to hero their love for music when finally saying I Do. After rescheduling for the third time (thanks COVID), the couple waited over two years to celebrate in front of loved ones, but it was well worth the wait. Held at The Line in Footscray, Melbourne, with a self-curated playlist, a Revolver Upstairs theme and rainbow glitter Docs, to say their day looked like fun would be an understatement. Styled by Good Day Club, the wedding featured disco balls, vintage furniture, glitter and epic rainbow blooms by Wild Flos. Photographer Finder Seeker shares all the highlights from this duo’s incredible day.

With two areas to style – the ceremony area, and the reception area, the couple tells us they were blown away by Good Day Club. “We gave the brief of Miss Havisham’s mansion in the 1998 version of Great Expectations meets Revolver upstairs with lots of glitter, rainbows, fairy lights and sparkles,” shares Elise. “What Good Day Club designed for the wedding day could not have been more perfect. I did not want to leave at the end of the night and am still trying to work out how I can recreate our wedding styling at home.” Paired up with superstar florists Wild Flos, rainbow coloured blooms injected even more life into the space, creating an unforgettable setup.

The Line Ceremony

Paying homage to how the couple first met at a Dynon Bridge party in Footscray, the couple’s ceremony was held at The Line under a custom Good Day Club bridge with cascading rainbow flowers by Wild Flos. Celebrant Anthony Cribbes led the ceremony, who the couple say is charismatic, engaging, and hilarious. “He captured the essence of Ryan and I through his great story telling and had my mum crying and us laughing all through the ceremony,” says Elise. “Anthony shared the majority of his speech with us prior to the ceremony, however with a few sneaky extra questions sent to us individually before the wedding, he surprised us with some extra vows that put us in hysterics,” says Elise. To close the ceremony, guests blasted the couple with rainbow confetti canons as they walked out to some of their favourite tunes. “The management (at The Line) were amazing in allowing us to style according to our wishes and desires,” explains Elise. “I have heard stories about venues not allowing confetti and the Line posed no such restrictions on us!”

The Line Reception

The reception area, also at The Line, was hidden behind velvet curtains which revealed a Revolver Upstairs style lounge area with a backdrop of rainbow tinsel and fairy lights. “The Revolver style lounge area provided a great area for groups to chill and chat, while taking us back to a place we called our second home for some time in our youth,” says Elise. The reception also had a glitter face painting station by Dana Leviston, allowing guests to sparkle while they danced the night away under disco balls. Since music is a big part of the couple’s life, with the two spending their early years in and out of music festivals, Elise and Ryan knew they wanted to curate their own playlist. “Ryan insisted that he did not trust anyone else with the music, so he decided to mix all 10 hours of the wedding playlist himself on Ableton,” says Elise. “We were warned against this by friends that this format would not work, as music needed to follow the crowd. Nonetheless, we knew what we wanted and in the end, Ryan created the perfect backdrop to our day.”  The two now get to relive the sounds of their wedding anytime they want!

Final Words

“Our vendors were all amazing,” says Elise. “Each and every one rode the COVID roller coaster with us for over two years.  All of our vendors were so understanding and accommodating with each date change and even right up to three days before when we didn’t know if we would make it out of WA and into Victoria, they were still with us and willing to reschedule.”
