Alexandra & Daniel’s Classic meets Bohemian Wedding in Sydney
Wanting the character and architectural elements of a historical backdrop, Alexandra and Daniel explored Sydney before finding the perfect spot in the sandstone grounds of Sydney College of the Arts. With gorgeous blooms, a hint of bohemian style and This Day Forward behind the lens, their relaxed cocktail wedding was brimming with old world charm.
A traditional church wedding was important to the couple, so they said their vows at St Anne’s, with a ceremony celebrating both their faiths. Alexandra shares, “Daniel had a Catholic upbringing, and me – Anglican. Father Mick is a close family friend on Daniel’s side, so we had to find an Anglican church that would allow us to honour both faiths by having Father Mic to play a meaningful part in the Ceremony.”
The day continued on to Kirkbride at Sydney College of the Arts, a sandstone complex with a rich history. Despite a forecast of rain, Alexandra and Daniel opted not to move the party indoors but instead embraced the weather. The bride shares, “We had a clear top marquee in a grassed courtyard with sandstone buildings surrounding us. There was rain trickling over the canopy and an old water tower peering in the background with a flood light shining on it.” Suspended greenery ran the full length of the space, as guests mingled throughout the cocktail style reception. Wanting their loved ones to socialise (and dance!), a grazing table and roaming canapes allowed for relaxed chats and dancing throughout the night.
