After originally planning an outdoor, rustic themed wedding at a vineyard, James and Emily’s plans quickly went astray due to COVID-19. The postponement however, meant this Richmond couple would get a chance to really think about what they wanted their wedding to look like. With a venue that spoke for itself, the couple only needed a few DIY styling elements and some prop hire to create a picture-perfect wedding of their dreams. Held at the Glasshaus Inside, their big day was plenty green with a beautifully intimate feel which focused on the couple’s love for each other. Photographer Quint Photography snapped all the lovely details, while DJ Eddy Mac from One More Song amped up the party vibes.

The Bride’s Raffaele Ciuca Dress and Groom’s Alexander McQueen Suit

Deciding to forgo bridesmaids and groomsmen, James and Emily tell us they wanted their guest’s attention to be solely on the love the two share. With all eyes on them, Emily stunned in an ivory and blush Raffaele Ciuca dress featuring an A-line fit and a deep V neck. “I had the sleeves added to make it more my style and I found my shoes online at ASOS,” shares Emily. “I wanted something I could dance all night in.” James on the other hand wore a classic Alexander McQueen black suit and matching bow tie. “The style I was going for was timeless, traditional & clean,” explains James. “I paired this with classic black dress shoes and silver cufflinks.”

Getting Ready

Wanting to spend as much time as they could with family, James and Emily decided to get ready in the same location. Once the dress was on, the couple’s families helped ensure the pair would stay hidden from each other until their first look. Getting ready only a few steps away from each other not only added to their suspense and excitement, but was also one of the highlights from the day. “This was such a special part of the day and made the day so much more intimate,” the couple share.

The Ceremony at Glasshaus Inside

Held in the beautiful Glasshaus Inside, James and Emily wanted their ceremony to have lots of greenery, flowers, candles, and a sense of intimacy. “When we discovered Glasshaus Inside, we found the combination of greenery and industrial design created an intimate, memorable environment,” says the couple. “We didn’t need to do much styling at all, and instead just let the space speak for itself.” Their celebrant Danielle understood the intimate vibe the two wanted perfectly, creating a custom ceremony that told their story. James and Emily also worked with Danielle to write their own vowels, which complemented the story Danielle painted of their love. Another special touch, Emily’s brother and sister were involved in the ceremony – her sister as flower girl (with an adorable matching Glasshaus Florist bouquet) and her brother as ring bearer!

The Reception at Glasshaus Inside

Their reception, also held at Glasshaus Inside, featured a delicious sit-down menu by Bahari, drinks from Liquid Infusion and furniture from The Table Station. The couple tell us by having their reception follow straight on from the ceremony, this would ensure plenty of time for dancing. “It was important to us to maximise the amount of party time at the end of the night,” share the couple. “Our guests toasted us while we ate and by 9pm everyone was on the dance floor with awesome tunes from DJ Eddy Mac (One More Song).”

A Little Advice

The couple advise using a website like Trello to keep track of every detail for your special day can be a game changer. “Because of COVID we had to plan and execute the entire wedding in about 4 months, and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without good organisation,” the coupe say. They also tell us while it is exciting to have so many options to choose from when planning your wedding, remembering that friends and family are all coming together to celebrate your love as a couple should be at the core of your final decisions. “Making sure those closest to you have a great time should be a high priority,” leave the couple.
