Jenna and Matt were the first couple to tie the knot in the gorgeous new lakeside barn chapel at Sault restaurant in Daylesford, which was finished in the nick of time for their intimate country wedding. The loved-up pair trawled the lavender fields and olive grove with photographer Sheree Dubois, laughing all the way.

“Even though we had slight butterflies, we really enjoyed the sacred time together pre-ceremony with just us and Sheree, getting a few snaps and chilling out,” recalls GP Jen. She and veterinarian diary farmer Matt were right at home in the provincial setting, a place dear to both their hearts. Matt had proposed at Childers Cove beach, another special place for the couple, who’d unknowingly both played in the waves there as children.

All grown up, Jen and Matt were attracted to the cosy atmosphere of the Sault restaurant, and loved the idea of being married in a barn. “Sault provided the perfect canvas,” says Jen, and they also provided magnificent food, elegant styling and (most importantly) a cranking dance floor to the sounds of The White Tree.

The breathtaking bride wore Suzanne Harward, channeling her childhood idol. “As a girl I would pour over pictures of Grace Kelly, and when I spotted the long sleeved lace dress, it felt inspired by that era.” It was the first dress she tried on, and it was perfect.

Although Jen’s three brothers were dubbed unofficial ‘bridesmen’, she and Matt opted not to have a formal bridal party. “It meant that our guests came responsibility-free for a real party,” she says, but was happy for songstress Aunty Geraldine to belt out Eva Cassidy’s Songbird at the ceremony.

“Trust in your own taste and it will all come together easily to reflect you as a couple,” says Jen.  “Also, have faith in your providers – they are the pros and offer up so many pearls of wisdom.”
